Description
One of the Omaha South Mural Project murals was on the back side of MCC. To get to it I had to walk through the Mahoney Building and had this view of the Omaha Livestock Exchange. From old photos of the stockyard I pretty sure this view is from a former stock pin. So I am pretty sure my shoes are a little messy.
The building was built in 1926 for the Union Stockyard by Peter Kiewit and Sons another big time Omaha company. As one might expect a building of that time housed every business needed to support all the activity taking place in this building. Now it is on the national register of historic places. It now contains apartments, community and business spaces. And it smells great!
