Description
An Iowa summer day, the sun is bright and the fields are green. The summer is dwindling and the kids are starting the new school. It also means the fairs are over except for the state fair. Two cuttings of hay are completed with the third cutting soon underway. It won’t be long now and the green will be turning brown as the crops are starting to dry and the leaves will fall from the trees. That big truck will soon be running alongside a combine to capture the harvest. When it is full it will pull away and empty the load into a storage bin and then head back to the field to catch the combine again. The days will be shorter for everyone except the farmer. He is in a race to harvest the summer growth before the snow covers the ground. Now when you drive down that highway at night there will be all kinds of lights moving around in the fields. Only when the fields are dark will you know the harvest is over.
